Animation DLO

This week for reading we used our creative skills to create an animation or an explainer movie about Yuri Gagarin, in groups. My group and I decided to create an animation. Before we created the animation, we planned it as a group. On a piece of paper we drew a S to include the information we wanted about Yuri Gagarin from the start to the finish. A fact about Yuri Gagarin is that he was the first cosmonaut to orbit Earth in Vostok 1. After planning the animation, we started to create our animation. We chose a leader to tell us our job of creating our animation. We all decided that Chavda was the right leader of our group. My group and I worked together as a team and helped each other to complete our animation. I think that everyone in my group had great create skills and are really talented in drawing digitally.

Penguins

Did you know that Antarctica is home to five breeding species of penguins? It is strange that the Mother penguin has to get food for  the baby penguin, but it is the Father that takes care of the egg until the egg has hatched . The Mothers has to get fish for their baby until it gets bigger and can get it for themselves. The penguins are flightless birds because they do not have wings.

Penguins are different than  other birds because they have flippers to swim underwater and they have a big flubber of fats and big layer of  feathers , so they won’t get cold . Penguins can be different kinds of size and colours, some penguins do not live in cold places, they live in warm places Warm-weather Penguins are the only penguin found North of the Equator .

The penguins eat Krill, Fish ( that can fit in penguins mouth ) and Squid. ( Parents  takes turn hunting for food for their baby , so the baby can hunt for their food when grows up ). Penguins hunt for food in the day and the night . It is a carnivore because it eats fish and other sea animals. Did you know Emperor Penguins can stay underwater for around 20 minutes at a time for hunting?.

Penguins don’t only live in the cold they can live in the hot places like Africa, South America {warm land }Australia {warm} Galapagos islands. They have different kinds of feathers on each penguin , and the Little Blue Penguins are the smallest type of penguin, averaging around 33 cm (13 in) in height.

The male and female Emporer penguins are similar in plumage and size, reaching 1.1 – 1.3 meters (43–51 in) in height and weighing from 22 to 45 kilograms (49 to 99 pounds).

Yuri's Diary by Jonathan and Jayden

Bust, Yuri Gagarin, First Man In Space

Vostok 1 was starting to move and I felt nervous, scared and very excited to blast off into unknown. My chair was shaking. I heard over the radio, “ready for blast off!” I shouted back “YES SIR!” I really was proud to be a part of the Soviet Union.

I slowly opened my eyes that had been shut tight the whole way up and looked out of the window in front of me. I saw the clouds, oceans and land that made up earth. It was an incredible sight. I still can’t believe no one else has seen this picture!

The rockets boosters detached from the Vostok 1. Time for landing was getting closer,. It got intense and the rocket was falling down quickly. My job was to survive this mission so I had to pull the lever for the re-entry, also known as the escape lever. As my parachute opened I heard a soviet voice say “Hello are you there?” Our conversation went something like this:
“Hello?”

“Thank goodness!” This was followed by loud cheers as I was the first man to orbit the earth and return safely.

This week we read about Yuri Gagarin, the first man to orbit the earth. To show our understanding of the story Jayden and I wrote Yuri Gagarin's diary entry for the 13th April 1961, the day after he survived the first manned mission to space.

Sputnik 1,2,3

This term I been learning about the space race between Russia and America for reading. In 1957 Sputnik 1 was the first sateillte to orbit around the earth. It was a Russian satellite and its name means 'traveller'. Sputnik 1 collected information about space to send to earth. Today satellites are used to transmit radiowaves to televission stations, cellphone connections and networks. Later in 1957 Sputnik 2 was launched. This satellite was different because it had a living passenger. That passenger was Laika the dog. Laika was trained for the experiments but sadly didn't make it back to earth. I don't agree that dogs should be sent into space because they can't make this choice for themselves.

Kiwi Can

This term at Kiwi Can we had a new topic was integrity .  For the meaing to intergrity is doing something right when nobody is looking , So when  you throw a ball and breaks the window you have to stand up to it and tell the truth , so there won't be more trouble .  The instering about learning  intergrity is about stand up for your problem , or getting in more problems and trouble .This photo is about our role play about honesty and integrity  when  someone throw the ball then it got and breaks the window and then standing up and telling the truth about that person broken the window .

Make 10 Then Add

solve number problems. Before I made my DLO we practised using strategy
to solve number problems and word problems. My screencastify explains how
I used this strategy.I liked splitting the numbers because I could do this quickly.
It was fun to learn about this strategy beacuse it makes me to answer words problems
faster .
