Jonathan-NZ Jobs In 1870



This week for reading we had to be in a group of four and we looked for information about jobs in the 1870s.  We made a compare and contrast chart.  We had to draw 3 circles in google draw and we had to look for information about the roles of 1870 Men and Womens jobs.  We only found 4 jobs that both men and women did back then and these are in the middle of our 3 circles.

Jonathan- Key Evaluation part 4

Key into Evaluation
Level One Set T4

Evaluation requires the skills or reorganisation and inference.  
Answers must come from the information in the story. Look for keywords. Consider the writer’s intent.

Tunnel Vision

Lee’s eyes widened and he grinned when he saw what was ahead.  Kerry bit on her bottom lip and frowned slightly.
Even though they could see the end of the tunnel, it looked very small, a long way off and it was very dark in the middle.  

Water dripped down the walls at the entrance and there were puddles inside the tunnel.

Kerry looked at the light sandals on her feet.  
She was sorry now that she’d argued when she was told to wear boots.  
Lee, meanwhile, had control of the torch and was shining the beam on the dripping walls.

Although it was summer it was quite cold in the tunnel.  She rubbed her bare arms to keep warm.

“This used to be a train tunnel,” said Robert, as they went deeper into it.  “They dug up the rails and now it’s part of a walkway.”

Kerry was trying to avoid the pools of water that she knew were there, but couldn’t see.
 As they walked, Robert told them the story of the railway line that used to go over the hills  and how there were many short tunnels. He told of how it was a long, slow and difficult journey.  These days there is just one long tunnel under the hills and you are through to the other side in just seven minutes.

It wasn’t til they reached the end that Kerry realised that the only way back to the car was through the tunnel again.
a.  How was Kerry feeling when they were at the tunnel entrance?   She felt sorry  Why did you say that? Because she is going to ruined you light sandals.


b.  Why was Kerry sorry that she’d argued?
She argued about to wear boots .

c.  Why couldn’t Kerry see the pools of water?
Because lee that has the torch.

d.  Why had the rails been dug up?
Because robert  want to tell the story about the rail.  

Reaction question: I have no reaction.

Do you think Kerry should have been better prepared for the walk through the tunnel? Yes   Why do you say that? Because there is going to be there  lots of walking to water pond and digging .

This week for reading I have been writing answers with the question and it was every hard to do but I done it by reading the text and answering the question . And also the the answering part is hard too so the blue text is the answer's for my reading .

Jonathan-Samoan Language week



This week we have been learning about Samoan Language Week we were a group of four and also we made the a DLO about the Samoan  flag and understand the meaning of the color on the Samoa And in my group was Nevaeh,Pua, Harlem,Giovanni that is in my group so we use our skill's to find information and skimming and Scanning the sentences  to put the sentences.

Mrs A inquiry

Today for inquiry we created a Gif about the skeletal systems. We used EzGif to to create this Gif. We used Play-Doh and toothpick to create a human figure to show you what it looks like without bones and with bones. The toothpick stands for the "skeleton" on the human clay.

5 facts about wild boars



This week for reading we made facts about a boar if you don't know what a boar is then read my information and you will find out how big it is and other cool facts. l really enjoyed learning about what a boar is and how big they are. l learned different kinds of names for a boar. l added a pitcher of a boar so you guys could see what they look like.

Two day wonder

     Yesterday…
I woke up feeling sick and lazy
The street was gloomy and very dark
the sky was grey and dull,
the people are rushing and stressed
The rain pours down on my face as I race
to the classroom.



Today
I woke up feeling fantastic and energetic
The street was upbeat and sunny
the sky was blue and bright,
the people are strolling and relaxed
The sun shines down on my face as I amble
to the classroom.


 Today me and my partner did Juxtaposition is when you have two different situations then put them side by side to create a contrasting effect. Lastly we wrote our own version of a poem similar to David Hill's but for this one it was based on our way to school. The DLO on the top is the poem. Reading a poem with low level words such as sad and happy can be very boring. To help us discover more vocabulary and to help us make our poem more powerful we used a cline. This is a resource that helps develop better words.  and me and my partner make powerful words

How to survive cow attack



Today for reading I  read a site about a cow attack and I did a DLO about how to survive a cow attack and I also Learnt how to survive a cow attack. I learn't that cows can be a aggressive about where you are and I also learn facts about it and information of it and they are dangerous and also if you see a cow you don't make eye contacts or run just walk really slow and if you see a safe spot just run it if the wasn't there.

The Unfinished Drink

day we read poetry about the La Tour Mollet (Ted) d'Auvergne then wrote a small paragraph of 25 words about the Unfinished Drink. I learned about him. I felt sad when I read this poem because he died in the World War but I also felt happy because the drink he never drank is still there in memory of him.

Skating



Today we did skating and it was hard to balance so I keep falling down but I never give up
and there were rules you can't hold on to someone t-shirts and when you are going to fall down
put your hands on your keens and also we have a race after that I have fail much and I such fun
but it was sore at the same.

Today for reading we have read this book and it talks about the memories and the books title is Memorial. For this activity we made a DLO about the characters in the story. I made it with my partner and we needed to put lots of facts and information on the family tree.
